First, introduction to MEPS energy efficiency certification

MEPS is the Australian Minimum Energy Performance Standards, which is the Australian minimum energy performance standards. The energy consumption performance of electronic and electrical products is getting more and more attention from ordinary consumers. The requirements for the energy consumption of electronic and electrical products have been certified around the world. The Australian government issued a new standard AS / NZS4665 in 2005, which is divided into two parts : Part I: AS / NZS 4665.1: 2005, which specifies the test methods and test equipment requirements for assessing the minimum energy performance of external power supplies (External Power Supplies); meanwhile, relevant levels of energy efficiency marking are also established Part II: AS / NZS 4665.2: 2005, which specifies the minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for external power supplies. From October 1, 2008, external power products sold to Australia / New Zealand must meet the MEPS requirements. The Australian government's energy consumption requirements include energy consumption labeling and minimum energy consumption standards (MEPS).

Third, MEPS energy efficiency certification label

1. Introduction to MEPS Energy Efficiency Labels

The Energy Rating label in Australia is a comparative logo. The label graphic (shown below) contains a rectangular base and a semicircle on the top of the base. This semicircle is a "dial" shape that identifies the star rating. The semicircle of the dial is marked with six stars, arranged along the clockwise direction of the dial. The more stars, the higher the energy efficiency and the lower the running cost. The middle of the base uses numbers to identify the annual (or hourly) estimated power consumption (washing machine water consumption) of the appliance under "normal" service conditions, which is CEC.

2. MEPS Energy Efficiency Label Features

(1) Star rating gives a visual description of the model's energy efficiency level. A higher star rating indicates higher efficiency;

(2) The energy consumption value gives an estimate of the annual power consumption of the model appliance based on the energy consumption test and information on typical use of household appliances;

(3) The energy quota labels for different products are slightly different.

3. Use of MEPS Energy Efficiency Labels

(1) Location: The label is posted on the front of the product or hung, and the air conditioner label can be hung on the outer surface of the package;

(2) The material and shape of the label: self-adhesive, durable cards with durable cards, the shape and size of various product standards are different, and they must be made according to the standards

(3) Color: Each color standard on the label has clear regulations.

Fourth, MEPS energy efficiency certification product range

1. The following electronic products are required to be attached with energy consumption labels when they are sold:

(1) Refrigerator and ice maker

(2) Washing machine

(3) clothes dryer

(4) Dishwasher

(5) Air conditioning (single phase mandatory, three phase voluntary)

2. The following products also need to be controlled on the basis of the minimum energy consumption standard (MEPS), which specifies their minimum energy consumption levels:

(1) Refrigerator and ice maker (implemented from October 1, 1999, revised on January 1, 2005)

(2) Main pressure storage electric water heater (implemented from October 1, 1999)

(3) Small main pressure storage electric water heater (<80L) and low pressure heat exchange type (implemented from October 1, 2005) (refer to the limits and test methods in AGO)

(4) Three-phase motor (0.73 kW to <185 kW) (implemented from October 1, 2001, revised in April 2006)

(5) Single-phase air-conditioning (implemented from October 1, 2004, revised respectively on 2006, 2007 and April 1, 2008)

(6) Three-phase air conditioner with refrigeration power of 65 kilowatts (implemented from October 1, 2001, revised on October 1, 2007)

(7) Straight-tube fluorescent lamp ballast (from 1 March 2003), note that in addition to MEPS, the ballast also needs to be marked with an efficiency index (EEI)

(8) Straight-tube fluorescent lamps-including 550mm to 1500mm and lighting power greater than 16 watts (implemented from October 1, 2004)

(9) Distribution transformers – 11 kV and 22 kV with ratings of 10 kA to 2.5 MVA (implemented from October 1, 2004)

(10) Commercial refrigerator (self-contained and remote control system) (implemented from October 1, 2004)

3. Although the following products have not been listed in the compulsory management catalogue, they must also meet energy consumption specifications and obtain certifications in the near future. The implementation dates of some of these products have been determined.

(1) External power supply (implemented from October 1, 2008)

(2) Set-top box (implemented from October 1, 2008)

(3) TV

(4) Home entertainment equipment: (audio and video equipment) (implemented from October 1, 2008)

(5) hot and cold water dispenser

(6) Vending machine

(7) Commercial ice maker

(8) Light tube series

Fifth, MEPS energy efficiency certification notices

MEPS is the Australian energy efficiency rating label. In the mid-1970s, Australia ’s two largest states, New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria, jointly proposed the implementation of the energy labeling system, but it was not until 1986 that mandatory Sexual identification system. In 1992, five states and one territory agreed to implement the mandatory labeling system; in 2000, the mandatory labeling system began to be implemented nationwide. Currently throughout Australia, six products, such as refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, and single air conditioners, must be compulsory with energy efficiency labeling, and three types of gas water heaters such as gas water heaters Natural gas products are subject to voluntary energy efficiency labeling.

Australia's Energy Rating Label system also uses a self-declaration method similar to the European Union's CE mark, but companies should register their products' energy efficiency information with the Australian Greenhouse Gas Office. In order to ensure the accuracy of the energy efficiency data declared by the manufacturer, the Australian government implements a government (national) testing program: purchase appliances from retail channels and send them to an accredited third-party laboratory for testing. If the test results indicate that the manufacturer makes a false statement, it will impose a series of sanctions on state laws and cancel product registration (cancel product sales rights). Therefore, the initial inspection and testing costs are borne by the government, and any subsequent costs for confirming or overturning the initial test results are borne by the supplier. In order to encourage manufacturers to continuously improve the energy efficiency of their products, the Australian government has also set up the Supreme Energy Saving Honor Award (TESAW), which is an award system to encourage the highest efficiency star-rated products on the market. At present, only electrical and gas products are involved, which can help consumers quickly identify the most efficient products on the market. This honor is renewed annually and in order to qualify for the TESAW Award, products must meet minimum energy efficiency standards. Manufacturers must also promise that their products meet the conditions for receiving awards.
